Programme
(the exact
programme is flexible to take advantage of
conditions).
Local
Day.
A
gentle introduction to the week! Half a day will be
spent on the canal which runs through the
camp-site, learning how to paddle canoes and kayaks
on placid water. After a break for lunch, we will
introduce you to wayfaring and orienteering, either
within the bounds of the site, or, for the more
adventurous, in the surrounding
countryside.
Climbing
and
Abseiling.
Using the security of a top-rope system, beginners
can quickly get to grips with moving around on the
rock face and trying out various methods of
safeguarding their climbing partners. Abseiling is
introduced as a fun activity in itself as well as
being part of the wider climbing
skills.
Caving.
The
underground experience is special and South Wales
has some of the best and most easily accessible
caves in the country. A typical caving trip is an
adventurous journey exploring large caverns, tight
squeezes, submerged streams and wonderful
formations.
OR
Archery.
This a sport with wide appeal, enjoyed by all ages,
and it is an ideal activity for schools, youth
groups or for entire families to take part
together.
The 'Midweek'
session is a half-day activity, leaving the
afternoon free for sightseeing, shopping or just
relaxing!
Bike
or
Hike.
Whether
you wish to run over rough mountain terrain, ascend
a steep river gorge or amble along woodland tracks,
wayfaring is an ideal introduction to map and
compass skills and a great way to learn the
rudiments of navigation. Or we may do it by bike!
Canoe
and/or Kayak
Trip.
An
excellent day out and ideal for beginners and those
with a little more experience alike, we use open
canoes and/or touring kayaks for a self-sufficient
day's exploration taking a river bank picnic on the
way. Even nervous beginners can rapidly progress to
be able to complete the trip.
