Expedition and White-water Skills: Open Canoe
If you have
done a bit of flatwater canoeing, feel confident on easy
moving water, and would like to experience the thrill and
excitement of paddling rapid rivers or crossing open water;
our 2 day 'Expedition
and White-water Skills: Open
Canoe' course
is for you. We aim to help you become self sufficient within
a small group of paddlers on grade I-II and open water and
to provide you with the skills and knowledge needed for the
safe enjoyment of the sport.

non-residential, £130 *self-catering
camping is an optional extra. What's
involved: We start by looking at and refining your
flat water paddling skills before going on to cover
the essentials of white water paddling; ferry
gliding, breaking in/out and alternatives to
paddling such as lining and poling. We will also
look at reading and understanding water movement;
safety and rescue techniques. Previous
experience: As well as an enthusiasm to learn and a
sense of humour, participants should be competent
and comfortable paddling on flat water and
confident in a capsize situation. Pre - course
refresher days are available by arrangement. If you
are unsure whether you have the necessary canoeing
experience to join these courses don't worry, just
phone the office and we can discuss your current
level of ability.
